Safe Electricity

 This multimedia public awareness program is designed to Illinois Electric Council. Safe Electricity from Shelby Electric CoopSafe Electricity is the award-winning safety program of the compliment the existing safety education activities of utilities and educators.

Launched in May 2001, Safe Electricity is a unified industry effort. A task force representing electric cooperatives, investor-owned electric utilities and the University of Illinois created the statewide program, leveraging the common interest and strong commitment within the electric industry to promote electrical safety.

This innovative outreach program uses a vast array of multimedia, communication tools, including a comprehensive website, www.safeelectricity.org(link is external), television and radio public service announcements (PSAs), periodic news releases and articles, billboards, and more.
